Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Clinical Ramp Up Following COVID-19 Shutdown

Members of the Center for Healthcare Quality & Analytics (CHQA) team at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), including Michael Anne Kell, Senior Clinical Operations Partner, Kylie Geddes, Senior Enterprise Improvement Advisor, and Chris Shellhamer, Analytics Manager, will share their recent work managing capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Description of Presentation:

With a breadth of experience across healthcare quality, process improvement, and data analytics, the presenters will share their recent success in managing various aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s operational impact on a local quaternary care, academic, Level 1 pediatric trauma center. Attendees will learn strategies employed by the team to effectively pivot to support bringing patient’s back into the hospital space, while leveraging data analytics to inform processes and continuous improvement.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand how a large children’s hospital carefully ramped up volume of essential and “non-essential” services following the COVID-19 shutdown
  2. Describe the structure for ramping up clinical services
  3. Outline the approach to matching supply with demand in an environment with ongoing constraints (PPE, medical supplies, and need for physical distancing)
  4. Review the role the analytics played in driving data-driven decision making during this critical period

 

Attending this presentation is worth 1 CPHQ Continuing Education (CE) credit. Webinar fees go toward the fees incurred to offer credits.
