12-1PM

Dr. James C. Won

 “Human Factors: Empathy Science”

Dr. Won’s research applies human factors engineering to improve safety and performance in aviation and healthcare. His previous work contributed to the development of a safe and efficient national airspace system (NAS) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other government research efforts, and his current work is contributing the science of human factors to develop and sustain safe, efficient, and reliable systems for the hospital.

Description of Presentation:

Human factors engineering offers a novel perspective in the socio-technically complex systems within the healthcare environment. By taking a human-centered approach to properly understand the underpinnings of our systems and associated challenges, we can develop effective interventions with the human in mind, resulting in more sustainable process improvements that improve patient care and keep patients safe.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify quality and safety situations in which human factors engineering are needed
  2. Understand human factors systems principles and methodologies

Attending this presentation is worth 1 CPHQ Continuing Education (CE) credit. Webinar fees go toward the fees incurred to offer credits.
