Description: This webinar will focus on the challenge of workplace violence in healthcare settings.
Physical and verbal violence may be directed towards physicians, nurses, and all disciplines in the
healthcare field. Implications of workplace violence and associated regulations and standards will be
covered. This presentation will also discuss improvement interventions to prevention workplace
violence and the role of leaders in healthcare workers physical safety and wellbeing.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this presentation the participant will be able to:
1. Define what constitutes workplace violence
2. Discern the implications of workplace violence regulations/standards
3. Describe an effective workplace violence prevention program
4. Discuss initiatives to support staff and their wellbeing

Speaker: Mary Law, MSN, RN, CCISM, is Vice President of Quality at AtlantiCare. Law is a veteran
healthcare professional providing executive leadership for Quality Management, which includes Quality,
Safety, Infection Prevention, Clinical Risk Management, Medical Staff Peer Review, Regulatory and
Accreditation oversight, and Coding and Clinical Documentation for the health system.
She oversees and directs AtlantiCare’s performance improvement initiatives, including development,
implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive Quality and Safety program. She also provides
executive leadership for accreditation and regulatory compliance. This includes ensuring the system
meets and exceeds standards, regulations and requirements of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services, The Joint Commission, the New Jersey Department of Health and other regulatory agencies.
Law has held many leadership roles at AtlantiCare since joining the organization as a cardiology staff
nurse in 1986. Her decades of experience in and commitment to quality and performance excellence
played a key role in receiving the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Law co-chairs AtlantiCare’s
Quality, Patient Safety, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as multiple other committees. She is
member of the System Incident Command Center executive leadership.
