As Vice President in Premier’s Performance Services team since 2016, Dr. Madeleine Biondolillo is responsible for strategic quality and population health initiatives to support members in value-based healthcare delivery and improvement. She has a proven track record of building long-term partnerships with providers and industry stakeholders in both public and private healthcare organizations. A healthcare quality/safety and population health expert, she has led Premier’s largest (500-member) national quality collaboratives. She is a frequent speaker at national meetings on the subjects of healthcare quality, health equity and population health.

Ms. Kilday has more than 35 years of healthcare experience in clinical care, leadership, organizational management, professional development, compliance, research, performance improvement, and team training. Deb currently serves as the Principal, Women and Infants – Strategy, Innovation and Population Health (SIPH) at Premier with a primary goal to assist hospitals and healthcare organizations in advancing and accelerating quality improvement efforts in reducing hospital acquired conditions, patient harm, readmissions, and developing an organizational culture focused on patient safety. Deb is a nationally recognized subject matter expert in maternal infant populations and instrumental in the launch of Premier’s Bundle of Joy Campaign, uniting an alliance of more than 4,000 U.S. hospitals and health systems with approximately 175,000 other providers and organizations to transform healthcare for women and infants.

Description:  This session will cover the framework of identifying the impact of Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) on healthcare quality and broadly on health status, with specific reference to maternal morbidity and mortality. In addition, issues of quality of care and health equity in maternal and infant care services will be addressed, especially the role of standardized data to identify improvement opportunities and the important role of shared best practices and coaching to effect Quality Improvement.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this presentation the participant will be able to:
1.      Appreciate a framework for identifying Social Determinants of Health in a given population.
2.      Understand the impact of Social Determinants of Health on healthcare quality and health status.
3.      Identify current national efforts to improve maternal infant care outcomes.
4.      Gain knowledge of the impact of standardized data to assess quality performance, variation in care practices, and measurement of reliable care practices.
5.      Learn about specific examples of the impact of expert coaching and collaboration to facilitate quality improvement.
