Description: This webinar will explain the principles and drivers of high reliability organizations (HRO) and how
to align many quality, safety, and performance improvement efforts to these HRO habits.  The presentation will
be structured to focus on the drivers of change and how building a foundation and infrastructure to ground
these changes will be an essential part of success.

Speakers: Brigitta U. Mueller, M.D., M.H.C.M., M.S.J., CPE, CPPS, CPHQ, FISQua, FAAP is an expert in the fields of
sickle cell disease, vascular anomalies, patient safety, and quality improvement. Dr. Mueller received her
medical degree from the University of Bern, Switzerland, where she also completed a pediatric residency. She
has help positions at the National Cancer Institute, Boston Children’s Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, in addition to having served as
faculty at the Harvard Medical School, Baylor College of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University School of
Medicine. In her current role of Executive Director for Patient Safety, Risk and Quality (PSRQ) at ECRI, she
oversees a large Patient Safety Organization (ECRI & ISMP PSO), risk management publications and Risk
Assessments, a growing team of infection preventionists, as well as PSRQ Consulting. Dr. Mueller is the author of
over 90 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 30 book chapters, as well as the co-editor of Patient Safety and
Quality in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation.
Rhonda Filipp RN, MPA, CPHQ has worked in various roles in healthcare over the past 30 years. She started her
clinical career as a registered nurse in the Pediatric ICU at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, and after
several years in clinical and leadership positions, she transitioned into healthcare quality, patient safety, and
process improvement. She joined the ECRI and the ISMP PSO in September 2021 as a Patient Safety Analyst.
